The incident happened near Machicomoco State Park in Gloucester County when the personal watercraft the boy was riding collided with his stepfather's pontoon boat. The collision report led the Marine police to respond to the Gloucester Point Boat Ramp around 3 p.m. Zachary Widgeon, the Public Information Officer with Virginia Marine Police, stated that investigators are currently gathering witness testimonies, though the initial assessment indicates that the collision was accidental. The tragic crash involved a Yamaha personal watercraft driven by the teenager and his stepfather operating the pontoon boat with ten passengers onboard.
