Gloucester Va Boating Accident Claimed the life of a 16 years old boy
A devastating event occurred on Sunday in Virginia's York River, resulting in losing a 16-year-old boy's life. The incident happened near Machicomoco State Park in Gloucester County when the personal watercraft the boy was riding collided with his stepfather's pontoon boat. The collision report led the Marine police to respond to the Gloucester Point Boat Ramp around 3 p.m.
Zachary Widgeon, the Public Information Officer with Virginia Marine Police, stated that investigators are currently gathering witness testimonies, though the initial assessment indicates that the collision was accidental. The tragic crash involved a Yamaha personal watercraft driven by the teenager and his stepfather operating the pontoon boat with ten passengers onboard. The passengers on the pontoon boat managed to rescue the boy from the water and brought him to the boat ramp, where Gloucester County Volunteer Fire and Rescue provided rescue services. Unfortunately, the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
This incident has profoundly impacted the family and everyone involved, and many have expressed their condolences for the boy and his loved ones. Despite the immense loss, authorities have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash, and currently, there are no pending charges.
