Beloved Rolling Stone Drummer Charlie Watts Passed Away at 80.

Charlie Watts has passed away.

Rock 'n roll has lost one of its most unassuming giants. Charlie Watts, longtime drummer of the Rolling Stones who infused their stadium-size sound with a jazzy swing, has died at the age of 80.

Mr. Watts, who had no taste for the life of a pop idol, was an unflashy presence with the band and brought to it a swinging style. I just thought, I would've wanted to actually meet this man in person , once I saw him perform behind the drums when I was a very young girl, he was both funny and stylish and a very interesting personality in the music industry.

Now he's gone and I never got my chance of seeing him live. We can't get it all.

So sad he was such a lovely man , very quiet and seemed quite shy , amazing drummer a legend  Charlie Watts.

So sad to hear about Charlie's death ... the gentle guy...they were here in Montevideo Uruguay in 2016 and they shared a nice time with local musicians... my condolences to the Stones and to Charlie's family ... his beat will remain in our hearts forever... artists don't die they just go on tour!!

What a sadness.

I am devastated by the news. The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock band of all time, and one of my favorites too. I had the great pleasure of having gone to two of the band's shows here in Brazil, at Copacabana Beach in 2006, and at the Maracanã stadium in 2016. The great Charlie Watts is gone, but he leaves behind a legacy that will remain forever in the history of rock and music.

So incredibly sad. Saw them many times, but I think my most memorable will be the last tour at Lincoln Financial Field (Eagles stadium) Philadelphia PA where my son and I scored Pit tix via Lucky Dip. My feet hurt like hell the next day from dancing all night but it was so worth it.

What a great story/tribute. Go with God Charlie…. From now on when we hear thunder in a storm we’ll know who’s up there causing all the raucous!

Very well said Zach This one really hurts for someone who has been a die-hard Stones fan since they were 5 years old and has seen them every time they came around for the last 30 years.

Saw them Steel Wheels tour at RFK Stadium. Was an awesome concert! A legend for sure. What a loss.

Sometimes I don’t think people understand the brilliance it takes to play for the song. Charlie and Ringo tend to be forgotten in a profession consumed by Moon and Bonham.

So sad to hear of his passing. I had tickets to take my dad to see them before Damn COVID!.

Robin Renee I grew up listening to the Rolling Stones. Charlie was the greatest drummer ever in my lifetime. RIP my darling man. I've seen the Stones in concert 5 times starting at the age of 18 to 53 and they never disappointed!!! The first concert we ever took our now adult son but was a teenager at the time was to see the Rolling Stones in Concert at Dodger Stadium. We still talk about how AWESOME that concert experience was, and dad and mom were so cool with our son's friends. Thank you, Charlie, we love you!!!
